Your Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who wants to support the entire municipality with communication and decision-making support by analyzing, processing, developing, and visualizing geographical information. You will be involved in driving, developing, and maintaining our systems and tools. Right now, we are also facing the implementation of our new GIS-based operational platform, which will enable new solutions for a cohesive community building process. This will put Linköping Municipality at the forefront of GIS (Geographical Information Systems), so take the chance and join us on this journey.

As a GIS Engineer, you will work on executing and driving GIS projects and assignments. You will develop, administer, and maintain our GIS platform and our web-based mapping services and their applications in the organization. Furthermore, you will provide support to and train users, as well as work on the development, planning, follow-up, and implementation of new GIS solutions.

Your Workplace

The Environmental and Community Building Administration is located in pleasant premises in the modern Ebbepark, right in the center of innovation, where the city is constantly evolving. As a GIS Engineer, you will belong to the Geodata Unit in the Development Department. The unit consists of 13 skilled employees; GIS Survey Engineers who support the entire municipal group with geographical services and products.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone with a university degree in GIS or another education that the employer deems equivalent. We want you to have previous experience using GIS tools and geographical databases.

We would like you to have experience in analysis, processing, development, and visualization of geographical information and have driven GIS projects and assignments. If you have also been involved in developing, planning, following up, and implementing new GIS solutions, this will be considered an asset. Experience in system development, programming, and project management will also be considered advantageous. Experience with ESRI software, GeoSecma, and FME is a plus.

The position involves a lot of documentation, which requires good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.

In the role of GIS Engineer, you will support the core operations of the municipality, so you need to thrive in a service role that requires a desire to help others. You will work in a team, which requires good collaboration skills while also driving your own projects. Therefore, you need to be confident in working independently and in adapting when circumstances change, without risking goals and results.
